Stories of Care

Words From the Families We Serve

Every story below is real — shared by patients, families, and team members who experienced Lily Healthcare's care firsthand. We are honored to serve each family and humbled by their trust.

"Christine, Courtney, Veronica, and Michael — you are all angels."

When last rites were given to my mom, the words Michael spoke brought even my husband to tears — and he isn't spiritual. On my mom's birthday, with family filling the room, we called and Veronica was there within minutes. Christine, Courtney, Veronica, and Michael — you are all angels. We are so thankful for Lily Hospice and her entire care team.

"Brooke showed more love to my mom than most of my mom's own family members."

All the staff I came in contact with were great — but Brooke showed more love to my mom than most of my mom's own family members. She has a beautiful spirit. Another favorite of mine was Nancy, the chaplain. She accepted and met my mom's spiritual needs.

"I went from apprehension to relief."

I went from apprehension to relief. After speaking with Kari and Brooke during admission, I felt I was going to receive a lot of welcomed support in caring for my father. I was even contemplating going with a different hospice company — the largest in our area — but after hearing the facility director praise Lily Hospice and meeting the team at admission, I am so glad I chose Lily.

"It brought me to tears. She knew exactly what he needed and gave it freely."

During a loud and chaotic fire drill at a patient facility, one of our patients sat with his head in his lap and hands over his ears — clearly overwhelmed. Without hesitation, Courtney knelt beside him, placed her arm around him, and offered a calm, steady presence. It brought me to tears. She knew exactly what he needed and gave it freely. Courtney always brings a bright and cheery spirit to every patient she serves.

"They made it happen — tickets, transportation, and all."

When a patient who loves WWE wrestling learned that a show was coming to Menomonie, Anna and Mark didn't just note it — they made it happen. They arranged tickets, figured out how she could get there, and covered the cost of the ride. The patient and the facility staff were in tears. This is what going above and beyond truly looks like.

"It's exactly the kind of thoughtful, personal care that makes such a difference."

A heartfelt thank you to volunteer Cathy, who gave our patient a much-needed haircut — her first in far too long. Cathy was patient, gentle, and did an excellent job. It's exactly the kind of thoughtful, personal care that makes such a difference to our patients and their families.

"So much creativity and planning goes into this and it doesn't go unnoticed."

Thank you, Peggy, for coordinating with our volunteers to make the cutest sock cupcakes to gift our patients this holiday season! So much creativity and planning goes into this and it doesn't go unnoticed.

"This is what compassionate care looks like."

When a family needed extra support on one of their hardest days — navigating a new facility and hospice care all at once — Jeff, Courtney, and Louis stepped up without hesitation. Their extra TLC for the patient and his wife made an overwhelming day feel a little more manageable. This is what compassionate care looks like.
